Umbria Jazz is the most important Italian jazz music festival born in 1973 that takes place annually in Perugia, in the month of July. Who does not know Umbria Jazz, one of the most famous and important Jazz music festival in Italy?
For about 10 days during the month of July, the city of Perugia is dedicated to embrace the best of Italian and international jazz, between the Santa Giuliana Arena, the Pavone Theater, the Santa Cecilia Oratory, IV November Square, the Carducci gardens and various other exceptional locations.
The Festival was officially born on August 23, 1973, thanks to the efforts of Carlo Pagnotta, a Perugian merchant fond of jazz. The concerts performed by Aktuala and the orchestra of Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, a very young Dee Dee Bridgewater. The evening took place at the natural theater of Villalago in Piediluco (TR).
